SIVASAGAR: In a bizarre incident, the discovery of a dead body of a young woman has left the people of the region in shock. Local police arrived at the location of the incident and took control of the situation.

The incident took place in a village near Sivasagar town. Locals discovered the dead body of the woman in a half-naked condition on Thursday. It was found in a half-constructed house located in the middle of a field. People mentioned that there were scars on the body, speculating that she was raped before being murdered.

The locals informed the police, who arrived at the location soon after the incident and took control of the situation. They were trying to ascertain the identity of the woman.

Previously, in what is being called a very shocking incident, a local youth of Lakhimpur was reportedly murdered by goat thieves active in the region. The incident took place in the Gubarisali locality of Lakhimpur on Friday night. According to local reports, a gang of goat thieves is active in the region and the youth followed them in an attempt to nab them. However, they noticed him following them and beat him to death before dumping his dead body near the Ranganadi River.

The dead body was noticed by local people on the morning of Saturday. The body was identified as one Pranab Saikia and a motorcycle registered to one Amina Khatun was also recovered at the location. Local people roughed up four people who were accused of stealing goats from the villagers using a private passenger vehicle. People also damaged a vehicle that the four accused were travelling in. According to local people of the Borjarani village located on the Assam - Arunachal Pradesh border have been facing problems regarding the stealing of domestic goats for a long time. Goats tied up for grazing were stolen and even those kept in the brans were not safe from these thieves. They had raised complaints with the local Tinisuti Police Station but to no avail.
